Swansea University students have given positive feedback across all aspects of their university experience in the latest National Student Survey (NSS), published on 9 July 2025.
The results show that 84% of Swansea University students are satisfied with their course overall—an increase of 8% since the revised NSS questions were introduced in 2023—ranking Swansea third in Wales.
Conducted annually by the Office for Students, the NSS gathers feedback from final-year undergraduate students across the UK. It covers key aspects of the student experience, including teaching quality, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, and student voice.
Swansea University’s strong performance is reflected in the improved satisfaction scores across all seven key themes compared to 2024 where Swansea also saw improvement across every NSS question.
Students rated Swansea particularly highly for Learning Resources (90%) and Academic Support (89%), followed closely by Teaching (86%) and Learning Opportunities (85%).
Other areas, such as Organisation and Management (81%), Assessment and Feedback (81%), and Student Voice (79%), also experienced good levels of improvement, reflecting the University's continued focus on delivering a well-rounded student experience.
In addition to the overall improvements in key areas, six Swansea University subjects achieved 100% for overall satisfaction, up from four in 2024.
Sixteen subjects are now, on average, ranked in the top 25% of providers across the seven core NSS themes—up from nine last year—highlighting their consistent delivery of high student satisfaction compared to other institutions.
Professor Deborah Youngs, Swansea University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, welcomed the results: “Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re incredibly proud of Swansea’s strong performance in delivering an outstanding student experience. The improvements across all aspects of this year’s NSS results are a testament to the commitment and hard work that goes into supporting our students and enriching their time at university.
“From high-quality teaching and academic support to opportunities that boost employability and develop real-world skills, our aim is to equip students not only to succeed at university but to thrive in the world of work and beyond. I’m delighted that our students have recognised this impact in their feedback, and I would like to thank everyone across the university whose efforts have contributed to this success.”
These positive NSS results follow two recent global achievements for Swansea University, including its highest-ever ranking of 292nd in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and a global ranking of 36th in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which recognise its contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
